2024: Hurricane Helene

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which struck the southern United States as a devastating Category 4 storm, Operation Blessing deployed to help Americans in need. After Hurricane Helene tore through Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, a huge swath of destruction was left behind.

When Hurricane Helene slammed into North Carolina, it caused record-breaking floods and isolated entire towns. In Asheville, North Carolina, residents faced unprecedented challenges as roads were washed out, and communication was cut off. Hayley Henson, a member of Operation Blessing’s U.S. Disaster Relief team, experienced the storm firsthand. She recalled how her hometown was essentially cut off from emergency services for nearly 40 hours. “Many low-income families couldn’t leave, and they didn’t have access to resources like gas and food,” she said. Disaster relief teams, already staged in Florida ahead of the storm, moved north to provide essential supplies and assistance. Volunteers cleared roads, delivered food and water, and helped bring back a sense of hope to communities that were overwhelmed by the devastation. Your donations also enabled Operation Blessing to expand its relief efforts by mobilizing international teams to help. Supplies like emergency meal kits and bottled water were delivered to communities that the storm had completely cut off.

With the support of generous donors, Operation Blessing was able to deliver extensive disaster relief services to those affected by Hurricane Helene in Valdosta, Georgia. This effort included chainsaw work to clear fallen trees, debris cleanup to restore safety and accessibility, and laying tarp on damaged roofs to prevent further deterioration.
